DESCRIPTION:
This retained search is being conducted on behalf of our innovative client who is a modular provider of cleanrooms, clean spaces, and cold storage solutions.
The Design Engineer will be responsible for assisting the organization’s management representative on projects from conception development through to construction award. This includes associated mechanical system calculations, pre-equipment scheduling and specification, and code compliance review to support the project.
This individual will coordinate with internal and external engineers, architects, estimating & construction teams, as well as clients and subcontractors from conceptual design through construction completion and preconstruction/design-assist. In parallel, the design engineer participates on a team that serves as our corporate liaison between our clients (project owners) and provides oversight and direction to our subcontractors, design firms, manufacturing, and field labor divisions.
This position supports client relationships, and alongside sales and the balance of operations, works to provide our clients with projects that are completed within budget, on schedule, and in accordance with our safety and quality standards.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND ROLE:
This individual will prepare mechanical calculations, construction documents, specifications and conceptual studies for projects.
One will develop detailed single line system diagrams for HVAC air systems, chilled water, hot water, steam, and process gases.
This individual must have the ability to survey and document on -site field conditions, both existing and throughout construction.
One will assist a team that is responsible for pre-engineering design to support cost estimating in various phases and requests.
The design engineer position has growth opportunities towards becoming an engineering manager and beyond.
HIGHLIGHTS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works alongside management providing project approach and execution strategy including project design concepts, flow diagrams, preliminary duct / piping plans, and equipment selections for sales and estimating.
Fosters client relationships to ensure complete satisfaction on current opportunity and positions company for future repeat opportunities with client.
Ensure that all designs and engineering issued from the department satisfy good engineering practice, meet required codes, and are professional in appearance.
Works with outside engineers and architectural firms to manage projects. Leverages understanding of building processes and systems to establish project milestones, project guidelines, and deadlines.
Collaborates with the design, manufacturing, field labor and management divisions, external vendors, and subcontractors’ inputs and deadlines.
Develops and maintains cost control/scope control procedures, billing/collection procedures, change management control and procedures, status reports (weekly, monthly, etc.).
DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
2 to 6 years minimum in construction and project development.
Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Registration is a plus but not required.
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical building systems including:
o HVAC design and psychrometric analysis.
o Heating and Cooling systems design.
o Building control systems.
Basic knowledge of:
o Process containment and segregation methods.
o Particulate management strategies.
Plumbing experience a plus.
Proficient in the use of BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, etc).
Proficient in the use of Bluebeam Revu and MS Office.
